playing the game

Final Fantasy XIII (13).

This probably will get me some haters. But here I go again my honest opinion:

I heard lots of stuff. And I knew that I won’t like the battle system just by looking at the trailer.

And, srsly guys…

I can’t handle it. I suck! I’m still in the first chapter (?) but fights never take longer than 30 seconds or something and the whole ranking screen with the stars and points seems rather useless to me. In short: the skipping of the whole after-battle screens takes longer than the actual fights.

It’s not really challenging and I’m disappointed by the “story entering”.

Usually you get a short overview of the story (XII) or “vocabs” or get told what is going on and what is what.

But in this part they started off talking about … Cie’th, Fal’Cie and such. You get background information in the log data but reading all the stuff on the tv screen is rather annoying.

The characters seem ok, yet kind of simple. Snow is cool (yet I think he just wants to do a bit much. Dude, one thing after another - saving a girl AND the world usually doesn’t work out). And I liked Yuj, which seems to be just a side character.

the first boss I had trouble with was that Manasvin Warmech thing on the crystal lake path. Kept switching between different types of Paradigms after dying three times.

I was aware of the fact that I might not like this part of Final Fantasy. I’m spoiled form the “you almost need to do nothing gambit system” in ff 12.

So I really hope the story gets more interesting.

And more challenging…
